4 days! It’s only 4 days until the premiere of this year’s biggest OTT event – The Family Man Season 2 and it’s now safe to say that amidst all chaos and controversies, the show is going live on the scheduled date.
Now, we embarked on a quest on why this show suddenly became the country’s most talked-about show. Why are so many people concerned about its release? Why are people even protesting against it? Now, frankly, we were also confused at first because there were several cop related dramas previously released but none of them created such a buzz around them.
So what we did is, done our digging a bit and realized that there is a massive yet a known reason why The Family Man Season 2 created such unnatural hype. When season one of the show went live and received rave reviews, it also paved the way for season 2. Now, it was mid-2020 when Amazon Prime Videos announced that the season 2 of the show will go live by February 2021. Everything was on schedule after that, but when by mid-January 2021, another show Tandav premiered on Amazon Prime, it immediately created controversies citing religious angle and suddenly the makers of The Family Man along with Amazon decided to postpone the release of season 2.
Now, why have they postponed another show which is completely unrelated to Tandav? The audiences quickly assumed that there must be some objectionable content in the show which might cause further chaos amidst the ongoing controversy of Tandav. And here comes the reason. We all know the old saying: “forbidden fruit is always more attractive”. The same thing applied for The Family Man Season 2. The more the show was postponed, the more anticipation and interest around the show grew. And when finally the trailer dropped and almost immediately a portion of people started protesting against it because of just a couple of sequences in the trailer, the audiences just went crazy for the series to go live and watch the show for themselves, because after almost 6 months of delay, they could control their interest and the anticipation level for the show went overboard.
This is why season two of The Family Man is a perfect example of that ”forbidden fruit” which most of the audiences are eager to taste at least once. And now after the super-chaotic last few weeks, when the show is almost knocking at the door, we really hope that the show meets all the expectations and hype created as the proverbial ”forbidden fruit”.
Just a reminder though, The Family Man Season 2 is going live on Amazon Prime Videos on 4th of June.
