The Films That Deserved The Oscars But Had To Go Empty-handed!

The 95th Academy Awards was a dream-come-true moment for many people and it was heartbreaking for some. Many records were made and at the same time many deserving films were left with no awards. When so many good films are made in a year, it is normal that not all of them will be honored with the prestigious award. Here is a list of the films that deserved the Oscars for one or more categories but had to return with none.

The most heart-breaking of all is that Cate Blanchett did not win an award for such a wonderful performance she had given in ‘Tàr’. Tàr was nominated for six awards and did not win any. Cate Blanchett gave her career best performance here and Michelle Yeoh’s performance was nowhere near hers.

Steven Spielberg‘s ‘The Fabelmans’ was nominated for seven categories and won none. It is ridiculous that Steven Spielberg did not win the award for the best director after creating such a masterpiece. At least it could have won the one for the best original screenplay.

‘The Banshees Of Inisherin’ was one of the most popular films of the year and it impressed audiences and critics to a great deal. It was taken for granted that the movie would win some grand awards. It was nominated for 9 awards including the four acting awards and for editing, screenplay, sound etc. It is a shame that such a wonderful movie had to go empty handed from the Academy Awards.

‘Elvis’ was nominated for a total of eight Oscars including the ones for best actor, Best picture, best cinematography. Austin Butler’s performance was praiseworthy in the movie and the movie definitely deserved an Oscar.

Many are blaming this to the ‘Wokeism’ that we know has been pre-existing in the Academy Awards for so long. An effective bias to be politically more correct and to promote minorities and rather left out communities in the awards becomes a huge hindrance to appreciate the true winners. Michelle Yeoh went on to make many records, she became the first Asian actress to win the award, but almost everybody thinks that Cate Blanchett was far more deserving than her. In the same way, Martin McDonagh, Spielberg, Todd Field were very much deserving for the best director award.

‘The Batman’ too did not win any Oscars this year. It was nominated for the categories of best sound design, makeup and hair styling and for visual effects. The wonderful movie ‘Aftersun’ was nominated only in the category of best actor and obviously, did not win.
