It seems like the rumours are true! Helmer Andy Muschietti has already earned early acclaim from several Hollywood insiders and celebrities for his upcoming superhero extravaganza, The Flash. And now he has been roped in by Warner Bros to direct DCU’s instalment, The Brave and the Bold. One Take News first broke this news.
Warner Bros is yet to make an official announcement about this scenario.
This news is not surprising, considering Muschietti’s strong relationship with DC Studios. Additionally, fans may see the IT director becoming a part of many upcoming DCU entries in future apart from The Brave and the Bold.
Josh K. Elliott, Senior Global Editor at Narcity Canada, asked Muschietti about directing his own Batman film when he arrived in Toronto to promote The Flash. “I can’t speak to that… yet” Muschietti replied.
Andy Muschietti made his feature film debut with Mama (2013). After that, he helmed the movie adaptations of Stephen King’s IT novel: IT (2017) and IT Chapter Two (2019). In 2020, Warner Bros confirmed the director’s involvement in The Flash. He is also involved in filming the IT prequel series, Welcome to Derry, set to release on Max.
Andy Muschietti is the third director to join the world of the newly-established DCU. Apart from him, James Gunn will direct Superman: Legacy and James Mangold will sit on the helmer’s chair for Swamp Thing.
The Brave and the Bold will focus on Batman and his biological son, Damian Wayne, who later becomes Robin under his father’s wing. Currently, the film has no actor, writer, or release window. Stay tuned for more updates.
