The United States is going to be cleansed again, but not the way it used to every year. This time, the cleansing would not stop in 12 hours but will go on forever. Yes, this is the notion on which The Forever Purge, the 5th installment of the Purge franchise stands on.
The trailer of The Forever Purge dropped earlier yesterday and it’s not only terrifying but also questions the idea of ending the Purge, an activity of legalizing all crimes including murder for 12-hours, due to the last presidential elections from The Purge: Election Year. It seems like the new rule doesn’t agree with the people of the United States anymore. The trailer revolves around Adela and Juan, a Mexican couple stranded on a Texas ranch, at the mercy of a group of outsiders who plan to continue their own Purge, and turn against the couple to eliminate them, ignoring all the laws.
Those who are unfamiliar with it, The Purge is an American media franchise centered on a series of dystopian action horror films distributed by Universal Pictures where the franchise present a seemingly normal, crime-free America in the near-future which celebrates an annual national holiday known as the Purge, a day in which all crime, including murder, becomes legal for a 12-hour period. The franchise started as a simple horror-thriller franchise in 2013 but gradually developed a cult status amongst viewers over the years and has grossed overall over $450 million against a combined production budget of mere $35 million.
The Forever Purge reportedly features Ana de la Reguera as Adele and Tenoch Huerta as Juan along with Josh Lucas, Cassidy Freeman, Leven Rambin and veteran actor Will Patton amongst others. Everardo Gout will direct the film and James DeMonaco, the creator of the franchise will reprise the role of the producer along with renowned producers, Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions and Michael Bay with his production house, Platinum Dunes. The Newton Brothers who are known for creating music for mainly horror contents such as Doctor Sleep, The Grudge, Into the Dark, Oculus etc. will be responsible for the music of The Forever Purge as well.
The Forever Purge is scheduled to release on 2nd of July, 2021 and by the look of the trailer, one can easily say that this upcoming film of the Purge franchise will have more nerve-wracking moments than ever.
