The Russo Brothers have too much on their plate these days. We are almost a week away from watching Prime Video’s Citadel, with the directional duo serving as the series’ executive producers. The upcoming Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden starrer is Russos’ most ambitious project to date. However, the brotherly duo is also busy with one of Netflix’s forthcoming projects, The Gray Man 2.
While attending the world premiere of Citadel in London, one of the personnel from Collider, Steve Weintraub, asked the helmers to give an update about the upcoming Gray Man sequel. The brothers kept very little about the sophomore instalment. Although, Joe Russo confirmed they were working on the sequel’s script.
“We’re in the middle of it right now. We’re in the middle of working on The Gray Man 2 script, so, again, everything is about the story. We are hard at work, sleeves rolled up, and more to come soon,” Joe said.
The Gray Man was one of the most expensive flicks to come out of Netflix’s banner last year. Based on Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel, the action thriller flick revolved around Court Gentry, aka Sierra Six. who was on the run after discovering corrupt secrets about his superior. As a result, one of Six’s colleagues, Lloyd Hansen, a sociopathic CIA agent, launches a global manhunt to capture Six. The film received a mediocre critical reception upon release. But it did perform exceptionally well in terms of viewership, luring over 43 million viewers within the first three days of its release. By September 2022, it had totalled over 250 million hours viewed.
Who will appear in The Gray Man 2 apart from Ryan Gosling? We should expect The Russo Brothers to disclose more details about the upcoming sequel in future. Stay tuned for more updates.
