“The Holdovers” won’t be holding its release window for long, as the Christmas Drama-Comedy now has a release date.
Focus Features’ October debut, set in 1970, portrays three lonely individuals at a snowy boarding school during the holidays. Paul Giamatti stars as a stern history teacher, Paul Hunham, overseeing stranded teens like Angus Tully.
As per the official synopsis, “Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (Dominic Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook (Da’Vine Joy Randolph), who has just lost a son in Vietnam,” an official synopsis reads.
Alexander Payne’s praised dramedy, nominated for 3 Golden Globes and 8 Critics Choice awards, concludes its exclusive 64-day theatrical run, amassing $17.4M at the domestic box office.
As the news is hitting, “The Holdovers” will be streaming on Peacock from December 29th. Shockingly, it won’t be competing for a spot as a Christmas movie but still keeps the date in the festive window; the film will definitely gain the numbers.
For Indian viewers, it will be streaming on JioCinema, but the release date is unclear.
