Chanchal Chowdhury’s ‘Hawa‘ prepares for a pan India theatrical release in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra and West Bengal on January 6. The film was a blockbuster success in Bangladesh and was lauded by critics as well as audiences in Kolkata’s Nandan during the 4th Bangladeshi film festival.
‘Hawa’ tells the fairytale-like story of an all-men team of fishermen who go to the Sea on a trawler and face the many mysteries of the sea. One day the fishermen catch something very different in their net, a beautiful young girl. The girl becomes a part of their lives after they save her life.
The film is directed by well known filmmaker Mejbaur Rahman Sumon and has Chanchal Chowdhury as the lead. There are other actors like Nazifa Tushi, Sariful Razz, Sumon Anowar, Shohel Mondol, Nasir Uddin Khan, Rizvi Rizu in other important roles. The screenplay is written by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, Sukorno Shahed Dhiman and Jaheen Faruque Ameen.
Hawa is Bangladesh’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards. It is truly admirable how a regional story has managed to create such an universal appeal.
