Apple Inc has just launched its own OTT video-on-demand platform this week, and it’s called Apple TV+. The OTT platform was launched worldwide, including in India, on November 1.
Though late to the party, Apple TV+ hopes to shake up the OTT market in the country with its enticing subscription rates. The streaming service is available in India at a very competitive rate of just Rs 99. Initially, the service is available only on Apple devices, Samsung, LG and Sony smart TVs and select external streaming services.
Apple TV+ has been launched with several original series available for streaming on the platform, including the Jason Momoa, Alfre Woodward futuristic drama, See; the Reese Witherspoon-Jennifer Aniston talk show, The Morning Show; Oprah’s Book Club, featuring Oprah Winfrey herself; and several others such as For All Mankind,
Dickinson, Ghostwriter and Helpsters.
Our very own Radhika Apte has also signed on to play a journalist in an adaptation of Gregory David Roberts’ epic novel, Shantaram, commissioned by Apple TV+ and produced by Anonymous Content and Paramount Television. Charlie Hunnam will play the lead in the ten-part series.
