Dhanush has a large fan base and has come into the limelight quite frequently in recent times. Some of them have been good while some of them may not be good. Dhanush’s film Jagame Thandhiram was slated for a Netflix release but not everyone is happy with this decision.
And with the latest development in this saga, it looks like Dhanush isn’t too excited about the decision after all. Dhanush recently posted a tweet where he wished for a theatrical release when it came to Jagame Thandhiram.
Theatre owners and those whose livelihoods depend on the proper functioning of theatres have been struggling to make ends meet due to this pandemic. Many of the big-budget movies have also opted for the direct to digital route due to the uncertainty but things though not fully normal have certainly become better than what it was. The theatres have literally pleaded with filmmakers to release their films directly in theatres to get their business back on track.
Many of his fans have applauded his stance on Twitter praising him for taking such a bold step to announce that he may not entirely be happy with a digital release on Netflix. Some also state that this may not be the right move as it will bring a lot of unnecessary public pressure on the other producers.
Even the director of Jagame Thandhiram, Kartik Subbaraj has replied to his tweet with ‘Hoping’ which suggests that this decision was made exclusively by the producers and they aren’t entirely happy with it.
There are always two sides to any debate. While the theatre owners and fans, in general, want a theatrical release the producers would still look for ways that are more financially viable to them cause making a film like this is certainly not a cheap affair and they too need to sustain themselves.
