HBO’s widely admired post-apocalyptic horror series ‘The Last of Us S1’ bagged a highly impressive 24 Emmy nominations recently. Earlier this year, the show was renewed for a second season. And for those of you who might be wondering how the writers’ strike in the US has affected or will affect the show’s second season, co-creator Craig Mazin recently revealed in an interview (via Deadline) that the opening episode of ‘The Last of Us’ Season-2 had already been written before the strikes commenced.
He further revealed that there are plans for a third season of ‘The Last of Us’ series and that the show won’t end with Season-2. Unless of course people don’t watch it and it gets cancelled (although we think that’s highly unlikely).
Another info which has been revealed is that there won’t be another ‘Bill and Frank’ episode in the upcoming seasons of ‘The Last of Us’ series. For the unversed, the show’s third episode titled ‘Long, Long Time’ focuses on the relationship between two characters named Bill and Frank and how they try to survive the zombie apocalypse together. The highly rated episode was also nominated for ‘Best Directing’ and ‘Best Writing’ Emmy categories besides getting widespread acclaim by audiences across the globe.
‘The Last of Us’ Season-2 will ostensibly be based on the story of ‘The Last of Us Part II’ video game. The second season will be set in Vancouver and is expected to have a lot more zombie scenes because a segment of viewers was rather discontented with the fact that the first season had long parts featuring the dreaded clickers. So, we can expect a lot more horror in Season-2.
As far as the delay in the second season’s release for ‘The Last of Us’ series is concerned with reference to the writers’ strike and actors’ strike, Craig Mazin said that it’s still possible to retain the upcoming season’s original delivery date. But it can get adversely affected if the strikes go on for a longer than expected duration.
Previously, the show’s female lead Bella Ramsey had said that ‘The Last Of Us’ Season-2 will kick-off its filming schedule in 2023 end or early 2024. The ‘Game of Thrones’ actor also said that the second season will most likely come out sometime in the year 2025. But that remains to be seen, considering the status of the ongoing strikes.
HBO’s widely acclaimed horror-adventure series ‘The Last of Us’ revolves around two characters Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and is set in the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world affected by a mass fungal infection. The basic premise is that Joel, a hardened smuggler, is hired to transport a teenager Ellie across the country, while protecting her from omnipresent dangers. It’s currently streaming in India on the Jio Cinema OTT platform. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on ‘The Last of Us’ Season-2 and Season-3.
