‘The Last of Us’ E3 Scores High On Rotten Tomatoes But Not The Best

Earlier this month, HBO’s high profile small-screen series adaptation of the superhit PlayStation game ‘The Last of Us’ started streaming on HBO Max in the US, and in India, on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform. And soon after its release, several critics and viewers even called it the best live-action video game to series adaptation.

The unanimous critical acclaim of ‘The Last of Us’ series is aptly reflected in reviews aggregation portals including Rotten Tomatoes. Overall, the show has received the coveted ‘Certified Fresh’ status and a highly impressive critics’ score of 96% so far on Rotten Tomatoes.

Until now, three episodes of ‘The Last of Us’ series have been released. When the third episode started streaming from this week, many fans considered it as a masterpiece and as potentially a strong contender for one of the best episodes of the season. On Rotten Tomatoes, Episode-3 has got a really good 96% critics’ score based on 24 ratings. But compared to the first two episodes, it’s still not the best reviewed one on RT.

Because ‘The Last of Us’ opening episode has received a 100% critics’ score and the second episode has got a 96% critics’ score (equal to Episode-3) on Rotten Tomatoes. This means that the first episode of ‘The Last of Us’ series is the highest rated episode until now on RT.

Now, it would be interesting to see how the remaining six out of a total of nine episodes of the ‘The Last of Us’ series are received by the critics and the audiences, and which one turns out to be the highest rated one.

Written and directed by Neil Druckmann, the original highly rated survival-horror game ‘The Last of Us’ revolved around two principal characters Joel and Ellie and was set in the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world full of infected creatures. The basic premise of the game was that Joel, a hardened smuggler, is hired to transport a teenager Ellie across the country, while protecting her from omnipresent dangers.

In the ‘The Last of Us’ HBO series, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Narcos’ actor Pedro Pascal has essayed the role of Joel. Besides Pedro Pascal, the horror-adventure television series also features his ‘Game of Thrones’ co-star Bella Ramsey in the lead role.
