First episode of the much anticipated HBO original series ‘The Last Of Us’ is out now on Disney+ Hotstar and so are those much awaited initial reactions from the audience.

!Spoilers Ahead!

‘The Last Of Us’ begins from the start where an expert warns about a fungal outbreak in 1960s which at the time seems outrageous and impossible. Fast forward to 2003, it actually starts happening and the panic ensues. Joel, a combat veteran, tries to save his daughter Sarah alongside his friend Tommy but destiny has other plans.

Two decades later in 2023, Joel and Tess, two of the survivors of the outbreak are looking out for Tommy but they first need to complete a mission that involves rescuing a 14 year old girl who may be humanity’s last hope.

This first episode, though a bit long, grips you throughout. That feel that the apocalypse is near is there from almost the beginning and gets intense with each passing second. The portrayal of the post apocalyptic world also seems very real, with government in full control and anti-establishment forces springing up alongside.

The first reactions on the internet are coming in good and people are totally loving it. The picturization of certain scenes are like those in the original game and that has impressed many who have played it. Moreover, the characters are nuanced and so are the performances from the actors.

The complex emotions, action, drama, fear, intensity, thrill, it’s all in there in the first episode of ‘The Last Of Us’ and that makes an excellent base for the season to build on.

Although there are views that it would have been better if the spread of the outbreak was shown in more details. But it’s just the first episode and we could very well get more insight about that in the upcoming episodes.
