Max casually dropped its latest ‘Coming to Max in 2024-2025’ clip recently, featuring exclusive teasers from plenty of upcoming shows on the streaming platform, including Season 2 of Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann’s The Last of Us, a series adaptation of Naughty Dog’s popular video game series of the same name.
The recent clip shows Catherine O’Hara’s character talking with Joel (Pedro Pascal), who seems to be talking with her about the massacre he made at the hospital to save Ellie in Season 1’s finale. Upon being asked about whether he hurt her [Ellie], Joel responds with “I saved her.”
Some of the early rumours suggested that O’Hara could end up playing either Eugene or Esther in The Last of Us Season 2. However, the latest video tells a completely different story. Some fans believe that the ‘Schitt’s Creek’ actress could play a completely original character in the upcoming season, which would be a major deviation from the video game series. There are also people who think that she could portray some sort of therapist for Joel in Season 2. Well, having a therapist certainly sounds better for all the characters. God! Most of them definitely need therapists for all the struggles they have endured in their respective lives.
Joel in the video game series is stricter and more reserved than Pascal’s version of the Season 1 protagonist. On the other hand, Pascal’s take on the character seems more sensitive and often showcases signs of poor mental health. It makes sense why he would look to get some sort of therapy for his actions and struggles after all these years.
It will be interesting to see what kind of character Catherine O’Hara could play in The Last of Us Season 2. Given her status and caliber, we should expect her to don a pretty strong character for the show’s sophomore chapter. Stay tuned for more updates.
