Unlike the past nine Monday mornings, sadly, there would not be another episode today for HBO’s immensely popular video game to small screen series adaptation ‘The Last of Us’ as Season-1 reached its conclusion last week. The series has already been renewed for a highly anticipated second season.
In a recent interaction (via The Independent), Bella Ramsey – the actor who played one of the show’s two main protagonists Ellie, spilled the beans about the ‘The Last Of Us Season-2’ release window and its filming details.
Bella Ramsey has revealed that ‘The Last Of Us’ Season-2 will kick-off its filming schedule in 2023 end or early 2024. The ‘Game of Thrones’ actor also said that the second season will most likely come out sometime in the year 2025. So, it looks like fans would have to play a waiting game for around two long years.
In another interesting update for ‘The Last Of Us’ Season-2, the show’s co-creator Neil Druckmann has hinted a major character reveal. He has teased the game and the show’s fans that the character of Abby, which appeared in ‘The Last Of Us Part II’ video game, is set to make an appearance in the show’s second season.
(Spoilers ahead)
For those who haven’t played ‘The Last Of Us’ game series, Abby was an important character, who acted as a parallel playable protagonist and also an antagonist. In the final episode of ‘The Last Of Us’ series, Pedro Pascal’s character Joel kills a Firefly surgeon to save Ellie. Abby was the daughter of this surgeon and that’s why she is hellbent on avenging her father’s death by killing Joel. So, Abby should be portrayed as kind of an anti-hero in ‘The Last Of Us’ Season-2.
(Spoilers End)
HBO’s widely acclaimed horror-adventure series ‘The Last of Us’ revolves around two characters Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and is set in the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world affected by a mass fungal infection. The basic premise is that Joel, a hardened smuggler, is hired to transport a teenager Ellie across the country, while protecting her from omnipresent dangers. It’s currently streaming in India on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform.
