The Lighthouse Streaming Soon On Netflix: Modern B&W Horror

The Lighthouse starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe is soon going to be available for streaming. The horror drama directed by Robert Eggers was released in 2019. Initially, it drew attention due to its strange black and white picture. However, movies based on a dark subject have done this experiment before as well.

If you remember the 1993 film Schindler’s List then you would know that it was also released without colours. However, that is a heart-wrenching and extreme example.

The Lighthouse will be available to stream on Netflix from 6th December onwards.

The story revolves around a young man named Ephraim Winslow and an experienced old man named Thomas Wake. The former is a new employee at a lighthouse of a remote island. Thomas had been staying on the island for a long time and gives his assistants a tough time. Things become challenging since day one for Ephraim as he is disgusted by the presence of Thomas and the way he always assigns him the tough jobs. Also, Thomas doesn’t allow Ephraim to visit the lantern room.

The whole film is filled with metaphorical visuals and psychological haunts. Things get a lot complicated when Ephraim starts hallucinating about the sea monsters and kills a bird.

The ending is unsettling and both the actors gave a terrific performance.
