One of the actors who play Din Djarin in Disney+ The Mandalorian series has disclosed that the protagonist will not ever be involved in a romantic storyline. Since the series’ debut, Din Djarin (best known as Mando) has become one of the most universally adored Star Wars characters. We have watched him face countless battles and chaotic situations in the last three seasons, along with his adopted son, Grogu. However, we have not yet watched him fall in love with anyone in the series.
In a recent interview with SithCast Podcast, Brendan Wayne (who physically plays Din Djarin) revealed that The Mandalorian would never get a romantic storyline. He did push a romantic arc between Mando and Bo-Katan while filming Season 3. However, the showrunners did not consider his advice. “Yeah, I pushed for a Bo-Mando romance, that was not ever happening! But, I did… I did [try].”
It makes sense why Jon Favreau’s team ignored Wayne’s proposal for a Bo-Mando romance in The Mandalorian. The series’ heart lies in the father-son bond between Din Djarin and Grogu. Commencing Din’s romance with Bo-Katan in Season 3 would have taken away fans’ focus from the bond between Din and Grogu. On top of that, this scenario would have made Season 3’s storyline more complicated than it already seems.
Brendan Wayne also talked about Din’s relationship with Omera in the first season. He revealed that the former would have stayed if he had allowed her to remove his helmet. But he stopped himself from doing that because he strongly believed in Mandalorian norms. He rejected her advances and decided to stick with the Creed’s regulations. On top of that, it is unlikely that the Star Wars fanbase wants to see Mando falling in love with anyone else in the series.
