The fan-favourite duo of Din Djarin and Grogu has returned in Season 3 of The Mandalorian. The latest episode, The Apostate, is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
Critics have flooded social media with their reviews about the newest season of the legendary Star Wars bounty hunter. Also, Rotten Tomatoes has released its score for the third season, 86% (based on 37 reviews). What’s more interesting here is the audience’s score (79%), which is lower than the critics’ score. This scenario makes Chapter 17 one of the lowest-rated episodes in the show.
Chapter 17 excelled in many departments, including acting performances, Joseph Shirley’s musical score, adorable chemistry between Djarin and Grogu, visuals, and action sequences. But it is not without its flaws.
The thing that seriously affects Season 3 pilot is its attempt to connect the viewers with the current state of ‘The Mandalorian’ world and its characters. Greef Carga (Carl Weathers) acts like a tool to remind the audience of what happened in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’, in case they missed watching it. Or should we say ‘they decided not to watch it’? Anyway…
‘The Apostate’ also suffers from the lack of a major character reveal moment, like Grogu (Baby Yoda back then) appearing during the final moments of the Season 1 pilot and Boba Fett returning in the first episode of the sophomore entry. Instead, Chapter 17 focuses primarily on Din reuniting with established characters. It seems like the newest episode tries to lay the groundwork for the upcoming episodes in Season 3. Let’s hope it pays off!
Episode 1 of The Mandalorian Season 3 is now streaming on the Disney+ Hotstar platform for Indian viewers. Stay tuned for more updates.
