Showrunner Jon Favreau has completed the script for The Mandalorian Season 4. Despite this, the ongoing WGA strike could hinder the production of the upcoming Pedro Pascal starrer. The WGA strike commenced on May 2, due to the failed negotiations for fairer wages for WGA writers. As a result, several Hollywood projects have been put on hold. The same may happen to Din Djarin’s next outing. Writers are demanding an increase in payment amidst the dominance of streaming networks after making priceless contributions to the Hollywood industry.
The presence of television writers is important on sets despite the completion of scripts. They regularly respond to tiny or unforeseeable changes on sets, such as actors or directors coming up with new ideas, actors sustaining injuries, the director’s disinterest in a specific plot element, unexpected weather changes, and many more. Their presence on sets aids the entire production team to get rid of dilemmas that hinder the production process.
As for Favreau, this situation has become more complicated for him. If he starts working on the production of The Mandalorian Season 4 sometime soon, he may accidentally break the strike, not to mention the criticism he would face from the entire writers’ community. In addition, several notable Hollywood figures, including Oppenheimer director, Christopher Nolan, and The Batman helmer, Matt Reeves, have openly supported the WGA strike. Working on the popular Star Wars project could put Favreau in a bad light in the eyes of many of his peers.
Additionally, the show’s production may get disrupted due to the WGA strike. The same recently happened with the production of MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again Disney+ series.
Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Katee Sackhoff, and many more. The series is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Stay tuned for more updates.
