The Marvels is indeed existing through a time period of turmoil, as fate isn’t the most kind to it. The box office projection shows that The Marvels could literally have the worst box office opening ever, with $60M-$65M as per the predictions.
Yesterday, there was a preview for a group of journalists and fans who shared a lot of kind words. From big news portals to certain individuals, they all gave compliments. It was pointed out as a short, sweet, and a perfect comic book film.
But none of that is getting reflected on Rotten Tomatoes, as it is not only abysmal but also concerning. Despite the good first reactions, as of now, it has a 59% rating on the Tomatometer, making it the third worst-performing movie for the cinematic universe.
It barely outperforms films like Eternals and an abomination like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which fell flat in terms of character build-up. The Marvels will also have the chance to outperform two Thor films, but only time will tell.
Now, in recent times, the first reactions don’t really mirror the box office success as despite good reviews regarding DC’s Flash and Blue Beetle, both creations flopped and went through a massacre.
Having a Marvel tag is indeed a privilege as The Marvels have no chance to go through such a fate but the bad stats won’t really affect the timeline as well. There are some really interesting projects coming up on the big and small screens and if you survive through the content flood of Marvel, you have something good waiting for you.
