The eagerly anticipated ‘Captain Marvel’ sequel ‘The Marvels’, which was earlier supposed to release in theatres on 28th July 2023, has now been postponed. The superhero flick is now set for a theatrical release on 10th November 2023.
In ‘The Marvels’, Brie Larson and Iman Vellani will reprise their roles as former fighter pilot Carol Denvers aka Captain Marvel and teenage mutant Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, respectively. Moreover, the movie will also feature Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, the daughter of Carol Denvers’ friend and colleague, alongside franchise veteran Samuel L. Jackson as former S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury.
Although the film’s plot is being kept under the wraps, it is known that the story will be set after the happenings of last year’s ‘Ms. Marvel’ Disney+ series. The plot is ostensibly expected to revolve around how the film’s three main characters Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau deal with swapping places after using their powers. ‘The Marvels’ has been directed by Nia DaCosta of ‘Candyman’ fame.
Besides ‘The Marvels’, another film which has received a new release date is Disney’s supernatural horror comedy flick ‘Haunted Mansion’. The movie has been preponed from 11th August 2023 to its new release date of 28th July 2023.
Based on Disneyland’s dark ride attraction of the same name, ‘Haunted Mansion’ has been directed by Justin Simien (Dear White People). The film’s plot follows a single mother Gabbie, who relocates to a mysterious mansion along with her 9-year-old son. But later she finds out that the place is haunted and enlists the help of a priest, a psychic, a paranormal expert, and a history professor to exorcise the haunted mansion. It features Rosario Dawson, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, and Jamie Lee Curtis, etc.
