Entertainment behemoth Marvel Studios dropped a new trailer this morning for its upcoming new movie ‘The Marvels’. The new trailer has been named the ‘final trailer’ for the film. The Marvels releases in theatres worldwide this Friday that is 10th November, 2023.
Interestingly, it is probably the first time ever that Marvel has released a new trailer or a ‘final trailer’ so close to the release date of a film. The new trailer comes just three days before the theatrical release of The Marvels. One may wonder why Marvel Entertainment has departed from its standard procedure and released a final trailer for The Marvels.
The reason is the extremely poor re-release ticket sales for The Marvels. The ticket bookings have been abominable, to put it bluntly. They’re even lagging majorly behind DC’s recent big dud ‘The Flash’. Movie-goers are just not enthused enough for The Marvels, to book tickets in advance.
The two previous trailers have a major role to play in the flop show at the pre-bookings for The Marvels. Both trailers were humdrum, lethargic and downright boring, to be honest. The trio known as The Marvels, comprising Brie Larson as Captain Marvel; Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel; and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, face-off against a new threat – Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton in The Marvels.
The extremely poor response to a new Marvel movie is shocking, to say the least.
Hence, the need for a new trailer – a final trailer – interesting enough to reel audiences into cinemas. Of course, if the new trailer is dripping with nostalgia, it might just work to do the needful.
And the more nostalgia, the better.
So the new The Marvels trailer does just that. It invokes not one, but two of the most iconic and beloved Marvel characters – Captain America and Iron Man. The Marvels is nothing but an attempt to cash in on the strong nostalgia factor that is an inseparable part of Marvel Entertainment. It is clear as day that the invoking of the two popular characters is clearly a bid to make movie-goers relive days bygone, be overcome by nostalgia, and then feel compelled to buy tickets for The Marvels.
The final trailer for The Marvels even throws in a little reveal – a cameo in the movie by Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. It’s obviously an attempt to tease viewers into submitting to the lure of the movie.
But It’s simply not happening, dear Marvel. The new trailer for The Marvels is as uninspiring and leached of vitality as the previous two trailers. It’s hardly the stuff that can make people shell out big money for the tickets, get off their asses and troop down to cinema halls.
Unless The Marvels trio conjures a miracle with their respective superpowers, Marvel Studios is staring at a certain flop in the movie, The Marvels.
