The multi-starrer historical action flick ‘The Northman’ had released in theatres earlier this year in April and the film had unanimously struck the right chords with audiences and critics alike. For cinephiles who have been waiting for the film’s release on an Indian OTT platform, let us tell you that ‘The Northman’ is all set to start streaming on the BookMyShow Stream OTT platform from 19th August, that is, from tomorrow onwards on a pay-per-view basis. You can stream the Viking revenge film on a rental value of Rs.149/- in English language with English subtitles on BookMyShow.
Helmed by Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse) and inspired from Norse mythology, ‘The Northman’ features Alexander Skarsgard as prince Amleth, whose father King Aurvandill (Ethan Hawke) is brutally murdered by the Amleth’s uncle, who also kidnaps his mother – Queen Gudrun (Nicole Kidman). Twenty years later, the young boy transforms into a formidable Viking warrior and is hellbent on avenging the death of his father and to get his mother and kingdom back from his uncle. The action-packed revenge movie also features Anya Taylor-Joy, Claes Bang, and Willem Dafoe, amongst others.
‘The Northman’ currently holds an impressive 89% critics score on the reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes based on 363 reviews. Moreover, it has received an IMDb user rating of 7.2/10. Despite the rave reviews, the movie was met with an underwhelming response at the box office as it has grossed just under $70 million at the box office worldwide. Another case of a critically acclaimed post-pandemic film performing poorly at the box office. Let’s see how the film performs on Indian OTT starting from the BookMyShow Stream OTT platform from tomorrow.
