The actor has sparked a new controversy after highlighting the show’s anti-Christian biases.
In his recent tweet, Wilson shed light on the depiction of David, the evil preacher who led a cannibalistic cult and showed his paedophile nature in front of Ellie.
Portrayed by Scott Shepherd, David was a highly manipulative and wicked preacher, leading a group of human cannibals with tight hands and sinister intentions. He discovered God in one of the most unimaginable ways possible after the apocalypse. And with his newly acquired perspective, he started polluting the minds of his group members, gaining an unsettling control over them. He even displayed his perverted ambitions in front of Ellie before meeting a gruesome death.
Is there an anti-Christian bias in Hollywood? Well, we cannot just declare the entire film industry ‘anti-Christian’. Movies like Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ have been hugely popular with Christian viewers. Additionally, tv shows like Joan of Arcadia and Touched by an Angel have touched on Christianity.
However, we cannot ignore the fact that Hollywood has also spent money on projects that some Christian communities found objectionable, like Ron Howard’s The Da Vinci Code, Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of the Christ, Kevin Smith’s Dogma, and many more.
The world of Hollywood has become more complex and diverse in the last few years. In short, we can all admit that the industry has produced content objectionable to some Christians. But as a whole, the industry is not anti-Christian.
