The cult classic ‘The Office (US)’ made a return to Netflix earlier this week, and the show has proved why it was so high in demand in the first place. While the brilliant comedy series got removed from Netflix’s library at the turn of the year, its popularity among Indian Netflix subscribers helped bring the NBC show back. It now sits comfortably in the top 10 most popular TV shows in Netflix India.
The 201 episodes from the nine seasons of ‘The Office’ dropped on Saturday, October 23rd 2021 and the show instantly made it into the top 10 charts for India. At the moment, the show is the 9th most-watched show of the week, but with enough time, the show is going to climb the charts – cementing a semi-permanent spot on the list, just like ‘Friends’. While the show is available on Amazon Prime Video as well (in India), the high demand by Netflix Indian users made the streaming platform re-buy the streaming rights of the show for the OTT platform.
And with the arrival of ‘Seinfeld’, Netflix is going to have three big shows constantly showing up in the top 10 list of the most-watched web series. We do not know if all the extra outtakes and additional content from ‘The Office’ that the NBC OTT platform, Peacock, is currently showing to its American subscribers – but the show is just as good without the additional content as well.
