The Polar Express 2 Needs These Two Things To Survive

The Polar Express 2 is in the works, according to producer Gary Goetzman, who also produced the first entry (2004). Goetzman is expected to partner with Tom Hanks to develop the highly-anticipated sequel. Though, it is unclear if Hanks will appear in the second part.

Apart from The Polar Express 2, Gary Goetzman is also interested in developing sequels to Mamma Mia 2 (2018) and Where The Wild Things Are (2009).

Helmed by Robert Zemeckis, The Polar Express (2004) was the most expensive animated movie during the time of its release. Critics and audiences praised the performances of the film’s cast and Zemeckis’ direction. However, its animation quality and not-so-good storyline get constantly criticised by many to this date. Some even believe that the film’s animation is creepy. Nowadays, the quality of animation in animated projects has reached a whole new level. Latest projects from Pixar, Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and many more have proved how far the world of animation has come. This scenario gives a perfect opportunity for the makers of The Polar Express 2 to use high-quality animation in the film.

Another thing the makers need to do is to officially add Tom Hanks to the sequel’s cast. His impressive voice acting and motion-capture work in the film were crucial as they aided the film in becoming a decent hit at the global box office. He played several characters in the movie, such as Hero Boy’s father, Conductor, Santa Claus, and Hobo. Many fans love the film mainly due to Hanks. It will be a huge mistake if the makers ignore the Academy Award-winning actor for The Polar Express 2.

The completion of The Polar Express 2 may take a long time, as Goetzman and his team do not “mind taking things slowly”. Stay tuned for more updates.
