With the resounding success of some of its recent shows, Season two of Four More Shots Please and Paatal Lok, one would assume budget to be not such a big issue. If not for all the shows, at least for the prime ones, which carry great anticipation.
Well, it turns out, the picture is not as rosy as one imagined it would be. Amazon Prime Video has decided to cut down on the budgets of its second seasons of three top line shows, Made In Heaven, Mirzapur and The Family Man.
Among the three, Made in Heaven by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti is the most affected. It is because it has still not gone onto sets. The makers too, have been understanding, and they have come up with a solution. Instead of compromising on the quality, they are going to come up with fewer episodes maintaining the same standard.
Mirzapur has commenced shoot long ago and is in the final stages of completion. The Family Man, on the other hand, has completed the shooting before the lockdown itself. These shows won’t have budget cuts, but the crew has to take a lesser fee instead.
The lockdown due to coronavirus is affecting every sector, and the entertainment industry is among the worst casualty. The fact that despite an increase in viewership, the digital platforms too are feeling the heat shows the severity of the situation.
