Srijit Mukherjee has announced his next ‘Dasham Avatar’ which will be the crossover between two successful films from his oeuvre, ‘Baishe Srabon’ and ‘Vinci Da’. And he is constantly getting trolled as well appreciated by the audiences after the announcement. Many fans are excited for such a wonderful crossover between two of the most loved thrillers of the Bengali film industry.
But there is a slight problem with the concept, and it is the reason for the director being trolled on social media. Actor Anirban Bhattacharya exists in both film universes as two separate characters and plays two of the most important roles, that we cannot just ignore. In ‘Dwitiyo Purush’, the sequel the ‘Baishe Srabon’ Anirban Bhattacharya plays Khoka, a gangster who previously used to be the love interest of Inspector Abhijit. Inspector Abhijit is the lead character of Baishe Srabo who investigates the serial killings of a killer who leaves poetic judgments with the bodies. On the other hand, Anirban Bhattacharya also plays ACP Poddar in Vinci Da, who investigates the murders of criminal offenders by a maniac.
It will be really difficult to align the movies in perfect order and if the director has to eliminate any one of Poddar or Khoka, it will be very sad for the films. Srijit Mukherjee should have properly planned it from the very beginning. When he is constantly being called out for making average content, he is resorting to churning the great stories that he once told. He should plan such great movies carefully and try to keep the expectations of audiences in mind. However, Dasham Avatar, the crossover, is a very anticipated movie and of course it will have a lot of audiences. But it will be tough for Srijit Mukherkee to create the cop universe as he already let down his fans once with his Baishe Srabon sequel ‘Dwitiyo Purush’.
