It will be just like fusion food as two very different tastes are meeting, and that too for the very first time. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, one maestro of actions, will now be working with A24, the undisputed ‘king’ of thrillers and suspense.
In his solo directorial debut, Benny Safdie helms A24’s “The Smashing Machine,” featuring Dwayne Johnson as the lead portraying the role of MMA/UFC champion Mark Kerr.
Through the years, Rock has gained the allegation that he has been playing the role of monotony, an unbeatable ‘superhero-ish’ guy. But that will change soon as reportedly, this will be Rock’s most dynamic role yet.
The movie’s logline reads, “‘The Smashing Machine’ is a drama based on the story of Mark Kerr, the legendary MMA fighter from the no-holds-barred era of the UFC at the peak of his career. He struggles with addiction, winning, love, and friendship in the year 2000.”
Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions, along with A24, will produce Benny Safdie’s “The Smashing Machine.”
A24’s Noah Sacco expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting Johnson and Safdie’s talents. The film, based on Mark Kerr’s story, has been in the works since Johnson acquired rights in 2019, with A24 joining as a producer and financier.
