The Sabarmati Report: Vikrant Massey To Bring The Godhra Tragedy

In 2002, a tragic incident shook the nation, leaving deep scars on the city of Godhra in Gujarat. The Sabarmati Express fire, the real-life event on which the upcoming film “The Sabarmati Report” is based, tells the heartbreaking story that changed the course of many lives. After the insane success of The Kashmir Files, filmmakers have started daring to make more and more films that revisit the atrocities on Indians. A super nice example comes out to be The Kerala Story and now we already have another film at hand.

Produced by Ekta Kapoor and set to release on May 3, 2024, the film features Vikrant Massey in the lead role, along with Raashi Khanna making her Hindi debut. The movie, directed by Ranjan Chndel will shed light on the painful incident that took place on February 27, 2002.

The Godhra incident involved a fanatic mob setting a bogie of the Sabarmati Express train on fire as it left from Godhra station. This horrifying act resulted in the tragic death of 59 people who were returning from Ayodhya. The consequent events saw widespread riots across Gujarat, with communal violence causing significant loss of life and property.

Vikrant Massey is currently enjoying the super success of 12th Fail and having him in the cast will only increase the buzz. But, only the narrative is never enough. If the film fails to capture the emotions then it would be a fiasco. Let’s see what the makers do.
