Normally we see one Drew Barrymore on our screens at times but now it’s all going to be different with the upcoming Netflix film, “The Stand-In”. We will be seeing Drew Barrymore for sure but this time it’s doubled up as Drew goes in for a double role movie. The Stand In is coming up on Netflix after her zombie series, “Santa Clarita Diet”. The movie will be released on the streaming platform on the 16th of December, 2020.
It’s all fancy and fabulous in Candy Black’s life as she is this famous Hollywood heroine who has it all. Known for her comic roles everywhere, she is very much in the news all the time. Like every other artist, she too has her own stand in and she is much less appreciated saviour most of the time. While Candy is suffering from the side effects of glitz and glamour and downing them down with alcohol, she is on the news but this time for something that can ruin her career. She is seen misbehaving with the paps as they try to get a shot of her drunken personality. With this she is sent to a rehab to get herself clean, but she wants to skip it as well. As she is discussing the pros and cons, she tells her stand in to be there as her in the rehab as Candy Black, while the real Candy Black is a complete train wreck at home.
As she gets back from the rehab, it’s time to regain the lost fame, but Candy never changed. Now does the real time Candy could use her stand-in in real life without anyone knowing it. While the stand in Candy is judging the real Candy’s choices she is excited to start this journey as she can be a star too now, her lifelong dream of being one. As the movie progresses, things start getting more serious and bigger.
This comedy riot will be an interesting one as we see two Drew Barrymore battling it out in life and cinema. The movie is directed by Jamie Babbit and written by Sam Bain. The movie was to be released at the Tribeca Film Festival, 2020 but it got halted due to the pandemic and is finally being released on Netflix.
