The Super Mario Bros Movie; Fails In Everything Except Nostalgia

The Super Mario Bros Movie is now running in the theaters. The film is based on the epic video game that all of us might have played at least once.

When computers were just beginning to spread through the Western world, we are talking about 1983, when the Super Mario game kept people entertained.

Regardless, Universal Pictures has developed a computer animated film based on the character of Super Mario. The film shows the same Mario character trying to fight against Bowser.

More than anything, what is attracting audiences to the big screens is the attached nostalgic value. The promotional campaign is really pulling people through “Hey! This is the computer game you played as a kid”.

And to be honest, The Super Mario Bros Movie really delivers that nostalgic value well. But it fails in every other department.

In fact, this movie should have never been made with such poor screenplay and direction. Because all it does is create a sort of repugnance for those who destroyed the characters.

The voice over by Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlie Day fails to generate any powerful feeling inside us. And this poorly made film is getting reflected in the reviews by both critics and audiences.

We hope makers who try to milk nostalgia get a lesson.
