‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’, the animated feature film adaptation of Nintendo’s cult ‘Mario’ video game, was released in Indian theatres last month on 7th April. And for those of you who missed watching the movie in theatres, worry not, because we now have the film’s OTT release date on an Indian streaming platform.
It has been revealed that ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ will start streaming on the BookMyShow Stream platform from 19th May onwards on a rental / pay-per-view basis. However, as per the current info, the movie is available to be bought at a high pre-buy purchase price of Rs.999/-. As of now, the rental amount is not being shown on the BookMyShow app. The movie will be available in English language with English subtitles on BMS Stream.
‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ features ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor Christ Pratt as the titular protagonist Mario. Besides Chris Pratt as Mario, the film also stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, amongst others as the voice cast members.
The basic plot of ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ follows the adventurous pursuits of a plumber named Mario, who travels to an alternate world with his brother Luigi. They team up with Princess Peach to prevent Bowser from achieving his nefarious plans of conquering the world.
‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ had received rather mixed reviews from critics at the time of its theatrical release. But interestingly, the movie was appreciated by the audience. It has got an average critics’ score of 59% on Rotten Tomatoes. On the other hand, the audience score is a highly impressive 96% on the same website. On IMDb too, the film has received a decent user rating of 7.3/10.
