The Trend Of Re-releasing Movies Seems To Be At An All Time High!

The wave of feature films being re-released in cinemas is at an all time peak and some very famous titles are riding the high tide! Not only is this happening across Hollywood and Bollywood, the ripple effects can now also be felt in Kollywood.

Several titles like ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge’ and ‘3 Idiots’ have been released in theatres years after their initial premieres and have not only garnered widespread box-office collections again, but have negatively impacted the releases that are screened alongside. However, the trend does not seem to be dying down any time soon.

In fact, the Kollywood box-office is gearing up to be set on fire once again with re-releasing Superhit titles like ‘Ghilli’ and ‘Raavanan’ hitting the theatres soon. Coming back to the cinemas again on April 20 and April 17 respectively, the two films are not the only ones in line!

Iconic Hollywood movies like ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Shrek 2’ are transporting audiences back to the 2000s in cinema halls as we speak. Not only does re-releasing films introduce the features to a new generation of viewers, it also reignites nostalgia for the original fans.

While re-releases have statistically led to a decline in the sales of premiering titles, they have had an overall positive influence on box-offices across global industries. Moreover, isn’t providing the audience with the option to somehow relive cherished memories, the ultimate point of cinema?
