The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Smashes Netflix India Trends!

The American time travel themed fantasy superhero show is back and how! The third season of The Umbrella Academy, based on the comic book series of the same name written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Ba dropped worldwide yesterday. The eccentric and quirky super-hero family is back in fully glory, this time cruising into Netflix India Top 10 in no time, exactly on the day of release. This feat is appreciable because the show is now trending at #3 despite having a working day(Thursday) release.

The Umbrella Academy revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes in the 1980s, then separated but later reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and then to stop an imminent apocalypse. Their father called them ‘The Umbrella Academy’. The second season ends with one of the siblings trying to reunite the others as they need to fight the apocalypse, that would be too much for any ‘single’ one of them. After fixing the timeline and possibly preventing initial apocalypse, The Umbrella Academy now meets The Sparrow Academy. The third season is all about the ugly violent face-off between Umbrella Academy and Sparrow Academy and so many rivalries that follow.

Will Umbrella Academy team up with Sparrow Academy to fix what went wrong with their arrival? Will the Umbrella Academy go back to its pre-apocalyptic lives? Some of these questions have piqued the interests of viewers all over the world and specifically India. The show on arrival has pushed Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 1 to position #4. This evidently suggests that much like Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy also has a devoted fan-following in India. No wonder the show is trending on top for now and is expected to trend at #1 after the weekend with more people tuning in to watch the third season.

The show stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Aider Gallagher, Cameron Britton and more in major roles. With already so much appreciation coming its way for arching Elliot Page’s character and specifically for the footloose dance sequence, the show is also appreciated for taking its scope a mile above with the third season. Fingers crossed for more updates on the fourth season of the show.
