Recently many celebrities and creators have complained about how repetitive Hollywood is becoming. They are focusing on quantity over quality and how superheroes are not the cup Of tea anymore.
But why? Why are such things taking place in the most promising industry?
The answer is quite simple, excessive use of some very unique ideas, they are using it to such an extent where the whole concept is repetitive to the audience .
Video Games! An escape from reality which gives us enough dopamine boost to spend the rest of the day or even weeks in a trance.
Video Games are an intricate part of one’s life, every 2000s kids can understand this.
But, recently the trend of adapting video games into series has increased exponentially, starting from Lara Croft to Uncharted everything is an adaptation of a video game. HBO’s “Last Of Us” and Amazon Prime’s “Fallout” all of them are video game adaptations.
They are picking up storylines sometimes directly from the quests of the game and sometimes they just kept the names the same and introduced a totally different story. Which worked for some cases but failed miserably in a few cases as well.
Just like this, the “Superhero Fatigue” came into existence, before MUC’s rapid release of series and movies, audiences had a certain excitement for the movies, but overflowing the audience with the same content became the reason for their recent downfall.
For example the “Resident Evil” adaptations won people’s hearts but “Hitman Agent 47” failed to satisfy the need, the time is near when “Video Game Fatigue” will also be in existence.
But, not only this is the real issue of the industry now, Hollywood is adapting novels which have all these video games aspects in it, series like “3 Body Problem”, where apart from the space bending things the main quest is to play this game 3 body problem , with a VR Set.
When something is new in the market everyone tries their hand, but by doing that they are just making the whole concept bitter.
Recently the novel “Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow” is getting an adaptation as well, which is also a video game Sci fi novel, which has a weird similarity with “Ready Player One”.
The idea of including futuristic Video Game aspects in movies and series are so over used right now, that the time is not far when this genre will also become stagnant.
The pretty Enemies to Lovers rom coms were hot cakes at one point , but now they are barely seen by anyone.
Some art forms should be kept as it is , they need no adaptations to reach a larger audiences.
