Two prominent former cast members namely Andrew Lincoln and Jon Bernthal of the Emmy award-winning post-apocalyptic zombie-horror show ‘The Walking Dead’ are reportedly set to star in two separate high-profile projects.
Andrew Lincoln, who shot to global acclaim through his adept portrayal of ‘The Walking Dead’ protagonist Rick Grimes, was recently announced by Netflix as one of the cast members of Guillermo del Toro’s horror anthology series titled ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’.
Andrew Lincoln will feature alongside Sex/Life actress Hannah Galway in an episode based on an original story by Academy award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water). The Netflix series is a collection of eight genre-defining stories meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror, ranging from macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy.
The Netflix series ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ is expected to start streaming sometime in the year 2022. Besides the Netflix anthology series, Andrew Lincoln is reportedly set to reprise his popular role as Rick Grimes in ‘The Walking Dead’ movie trilogy.
Another original cast member of ‘The Walking Dead’ Jon Bernthal is purportedly expected to feature in the sequel to the sleeper hit film ‘The Accountant’ which starred Ben Affleck in the lead role. The revelation was made by the film’s director Gavin O’Connor in a CinemaBlend podcast.
The filmmaker disclosed his intentions about making ‘The Accountant’ as a film trilogy and that Jon Bernthal (as Ben Affleck’s brother) might play a meatier part in the second film. He further revealed that the third film would be a buddy movie on the lines of Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise’s 1988 movie ‘Rainman’.
For the unversed, the original 2016 film ‘The Accountant’ was an action-thriller that revolved around an autistic but brilliant accountant (Ben Affleck) who is also highly trained in martial arts. He deploys his unique set of skills to uncook the books of dangerous organizations.
