The Weekend Box Office Recap: ‘Inside Out 2’ Reigns Unabashedly!

The weekend brings along with it the promise of relaxation, which is in a way also considered a means of catharsis. And as is already known, going to the movies has always been a socially accepted means of letting your emotions run through you.

In the spirit of this, the international box office over the weekend showed some very interesting changes and fluctuations. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures’ highly anticipated sequel that brings human emotions to life, ‘Inside Out 2′ continues to reign unabashedly with a worldwide collection of USD 469.3M.

Paramount Pictures’ ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, follows suit as a close second with USD 53M, having only been in theatres worldwide for 3 days. Another title that’s been on screens for 3 days but hasn’t performed as well as expected is Warner Bros.’ ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 with a collection of USD 11M.

Sony Pictures’ ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ has recorded a whopping collection of USD 165.3M, having completed more than 3 weeks in cinemas. Unsurprisingly, Nag Ashwin’s highly anticipated dystopian thriller starring superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Hassan, Keerthy Suresh, and more, has clocked in USD 11.2M, despite being a non-English title.

In all of the 7 weeks since its release, 20th Century Studios’ ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’, has totaled its worldwide box office collections to USD 168M, becoming the 5th highest grosser in the ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchise.

Detective fiction drama ‘The Bikeriders’ continues to maintain a good enough spot on the box office with a collection of USD 16.2M in 10 days. This is astonishingly in stark contrast to Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘Kinds of Kindness’ as the title has collected USD 2M in the same time. However, the huge difference in the number of theatres is the key cause of that. The former is being screened in almost 82% more theatres than the latter.
