One of most successful Netflix shows on fantasies and dark entities, the season 2 of The Witcher finally has news on its release. Though the exact date has not been officially confirmed, but release window i.e. late 2021, is confirmed today by Netflix co-CEO & chief content officer Ted Sarandos during a Q1 2021 Earnings Interview. This really gives the fans a big shy of relief.
As per the reports, Sarandos said, “we think we’ll get back to a much steadier state in the back half of the year, certainly in Q4 where we’ve got the returning seasons of some of our most popular shows like The Witcher and You and Cobra Kai”.
After the massive success of season 1 on Netflix in late 2019, the demands of the fans all over the world started pouring in to provide the updates on season 2. But further shooting has been delayed and at one point of time, it was also uncertain whether the shooting will begin or not because of the surge of pandemic all over the globe. But since the lockdown norms loosened up a bit gradually, the production house began shooting and it is wrapped now. The season 2 will reportedly have eight episodes and the wrap-up news was earlier confirmed by Jacqueline Rathore, the personal hair designer of Henry Cavill.
The Witcher is the brainchild of the Polish writer Andrej Sapkowski and Netflix has acquired the rights of the same in 2017. Since then the selling of the books have increased a lot and fans are eagerly waiting for season 2 to be aired. This second season of The Witcher is speculated to explore the three lead characters’ life again, taking the story further where it left in season 1.
The official pages of The Witcher already confirmed that apart from the return of Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia and Freya Allan’s Ciri, there will be more Witchers in the upcoming season. Yennefer will also return following her fiery sacrifice in the season one finale. Now fans will surely wait to dive deep into the adventures the season 2 holds as the upcoming season is definitely arriving in late 2021 on Netflix.
