The Academy Award-nominated actor and John Wick fame, Lawrence Fishburne, has joined the cast of Netflix’s The Witcher Season 4 as Regis, a fan-favourite character from The Witcher games and novel series.
Debuting through Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novel, Baptism of Fire, Regis is a smart and wise Barber-surgeon who will accompany Geralt on his journey in Season 4. Liam Hemsworth will play the leading man in the upcoming season, replacing Henry Cavill, who left the series after Season 3.
Sapkowski’s Baptism of Fire is his sixth Witcher novel. After this one, showrunners will have three more novels to cover: The Tower of the Swallow, The Lady of the Jake, and Season of Storms.
Lawrence Fishburne is best known for his roles in projects like The Matrix Trilogy, Mission: Impossible III (2006), Predators (2010), Contagion (2011), Man of Steel (2013), and the John Wick series.
The Witcher showrunners faced immense criticism from fans last year after the removal of Henry Cavill from the show. The Man of Steel actor was replaced by Liam Hemsworth. No real reason was given for Cavill leaving the series. However, many reports revealed that the Superman actor was unhappy with the show’s overall creative direction. He believed that the showrunners were not following the source material closely. He was interested in portraying a book-accurate Geralt instead of what showrunners wanted him to do.
Pre-production for The Witcher Season 4 will commence in January this year. It means we should expect the next season to arrive on Netflix in late 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
