The eminent million-dollar-smile Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit is all set for her next OTT project ‘Maja Ma’ after making an impressive streaming debut with the Netflix web series ‘The Fame Game’ earlier this year. In both these projects, Madhuri Dixit has essayed a multi-layered role of a doting yet distressed mother.
Despite the stunning screen presence of an actress of Madhuri Dixit’s caliber and charisma and with just a few hours before its release, ‘Maja Ma’ is still not getting significant buzz online. Comparatively, some of the recently released and upcoming titles on OTT such as ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Karthikeya 2’, ‘Werewolf by Night’, and ‘Mismatched Season 2’ have fetched better results (interest over seven days period) on Google trends. ‘Maja Ma’ buzz was at its peak last night but has diminished since then.
Does it mean that Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Maja Ma’ is not expected to recreate similar magic amongst OTT audiences as previously done by the Netflix series ‘The Fame Game’? We don’t think so. Because of one simple reason. The man behind the camera: Anand Tiwari (besides Madhuri Dixit of course).
‘Maja Ma’ has been helmed by actor-director Anand Tiwari. For those of you who are not aware, Anand Tiwari has also created, produced, and directed Amazon Prime Video’s critically acclaimed web series ‘Bandish Bandit’. It’s regarded as one of the finest Indian web series of 2020.
Prior to ‘Bandish Bandits’, Anand Tiwari had also directed the well-received Netflix original romantic comedy movie ‘Love Per Square Foot’. Starring Vicky Kaushal and Angira Dhar, it became the first ever Indian film to stream directly on any Indian OTT platform.
Provided that Anand Tiwari has helmed Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Maja Ma’ with the same conviction, it should be safe to assume that the film would turn out to be the second consecutive hit OTT project for Madhuri Dixit. But overall audience acceptance for the film and its entertainment quotient will be of utmost importance.
‘Maja Ma’ is a family drama movie which revolves around a devoted Gujarati middle-class housewife Pallavi Patel (played by Madhuri Dixit), who is a fabulous cook and an expert dancer. How Pallavi’s past secret becomes a deterrent to her son’s marriage and whether she can endure the unexpected hardship in the family, forms the film’s basic plotline. ‘Maja Ma’ movie will start streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform from tomorrow, that is, from 6th October onwards.
