Recently, viewers have been annoyed with how OTT platforms handle censorship. Some audiences support censorship, while others oppose this external moral policing. Amidst all this, viewers are losing faith in OTT platforms.
But there is a big change in events.
Movie theaters are coming to the rescue.
Sounds surprising, right? But lately, movies are receiving fewer complaints about censorship, which is unexpected. Though a film like Monkey Man didn’t get a well-deserved India release, some films are getting uncut versions shown in theaters.
Kill is one such movie, a feast of violence filled with gore. For the Indian audience, it’s surprising to watch it in theaters. Even a couple of years ago, audiences couldn’t have expected such events.
Kill isn’t the only movie in this category. The newest Hollywood horror, Longlegs, had the same fate. It’s common to have cuts in Hollywood horrors, as they are often too violent for audiences. However, the Censor Board left this movie untouched in terms of cuts.

This is a positive thing for the industry. If theaters become braver, directors and producers won’t rely solely on OTT platforms. Though OTT provides comfort, theaters offer an experience. If fans know they are watching an uncut product, they will be more excited to watch it.
