These Bengali films Are At A Risk Of Being Boycotted Amidst Protests!

The Bengali film fraternity is trying hard to join the mass in protests against the R.G. Kar incident in Kolkata, but the public seem to sense a tinge of hypocrisy and deceit. While a few celebrities have been wholeheartedly accepted by them in the protests, many big names are downright rejected.

This will indeed impact the box office and there is a possibility of a few films being boycotted by the audiences. This is the reason that the release dates of ‘Jomaloye Jibonto Bhanu’ starring Saswata Chatterjee and ‘Ei Raat Tomar Amar’ from Aparna Sen and Anjan Dutta have been postponed. Aparna Sen is one of the stalwarts in the industry, but she was booed and criticized because of her silence regarding the incident and there is no doubt that the release would have been fruitless at this time.

Among the other names, there are big stars like Dev and Anirban Bhattacharya, who are targeted on social media for their silence. Dev has two big upcoming movies. One is ‘Khadaan’ and the other one ‘Tekka’ and however long the movies are postponed, there will be some effect of the silence, the public is reminding him again and again on social media. Anirban Bhattacharya will be seen in ‘Pokkhirajer Dim’ and also in the series ‘Mohanagar S3’. Prasenjit Chatterjee will be seen in movies like ‘Saajghor’, ‘Daktar Kaku’ and ‘Devi Chowdhurani’. All These films face a threat of being rejected by the audiences at the time of their release.
