With the pandemic enforcing a lockdown across the country, Bollywood buffs and web show addicts were restricted from visiting movie halls to get a dose of entertainment. However, streaming platforms took advantage of this opportunity to grab eyeballs. A slew of web series were released and they went on to become instant hits. Social media was flooded with memes based on the popular characters from these shows. Here are the actors who carved a niche for themselves while the rest of the entertainment industry was house bound.

SAIYAMI KHER: Very few remember this actor who made her debut in Mirzya opposite Harshavardhan Kapoor. But her latest release Choked, which is currently streaming on Netflix made her an instant name that is still trending on social media. Set in the backdrop of Demonitisation, the actor plays a bank employee who gets caught up in a financial fiasco.

JAIDEEP AHLAWAT: Jaideep Ahlawat has been a familiar face in Bollywood, but his portrayal of Hathiram Chowdhury in Amazon Prime Video’s Pataal Lok caught the attention of the world. He plays a ruffian police inspector who chases a murder investigation in hopes of getting a promotion.

VINEET KUMAR SINGH: Another popular character actor in Bollywood finally got the recognition he deserves in Netflix’s recently released series Betaal. Despite having been part of other web shows such as Bard of Blood, Vineet remained on the fringes but perhaps the audiences will now root for him after his riveting performance as Commandant Vikram Sirohi of the fictional Counter Insurgency Police Department (CIPD fictional Counter Insurgency Police Department (CIPD).

SAYANI GUPTA: A regular in OTT space, Sayani has worked in web shows such as Posham Paa on Zee5, Inside Edge on Amazon Prime Video, Kaushiki on Viu. But her work in Four More Shots Season 2 on Amazon Prime Video and the recently released Netflix Original film Axone have drawn much attention to the Kolkata-born actor.
