Sony Pictures Entertainment has dropped the second official trailer of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and boy, oh boy, it literally gives goosebumps!
Across the Spider-Verse’s new trailer shows Miles Morales doing absolutely fine in his home universe as he finally balances his school life with his superhero one. His parents, Jefferson Davis and Rio Morales, want their son to be happy. And Miles surely finds his happiness fighting street crime in Brooklyn.
Here’s what we learn from the second official trailer!
The Spot is not the main villain
Fans were excited when The Spot’s inclusion was announced by Sony in Across the Spider-Verse in June last year. Many believed he would be the main antagonist in the upcoming Spidey flick. However, the latest trailer proves that he is a comic relief in the film. The Spot has interdimensional portals on his body that allow him to travel to other dimensions. We could have taken him seriously if he had done something really cool rather than just throwing sandwiches out of his stomach.
Is Spider-Man 2099 the main baddie?
We know it is too early to jump to this conclusion. But we certainly find Miguel O’Hara at odds with Miles in the newest clip. Every webhead in Miguel’s faction has suffered a heartbreaking tragedy. Miles may have to choose between saving one beloved individual or protecting the entire universe in the forthcoming project. His decision will create an interdimensional conflict between him and other web-slingers, including Miguel. Will Miles be able to protect everyone? Only time will tell us.
What about Vulture?
We see Vulture battling with Miguel’s Spider-Man 2099 in the latest trailer. He appears for a split second, though. Is he responsible for wreaking havoc in all the universes? To be honest, we do not have an answer to this question. All we know about the supervillain is that the character emerges from a Renaissance-themed universe. Jorma Taccone will voice him in the upcoming Spidey project.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will hit the theatres on June 2. It stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Issac. Stay tuned for more updates.
