Helmed by Finish filmmaker Aki Kaurismaki, ‘Fallen Leaves’ is a tragic comedy which follows the story of a lonely woman named Ansa, who works an ordinary job in a supermarket in Helsinki. There, she meets a reclusive alcoholic Holappa, and they try to make their relationship work against all odds and in spite of multiple problems.
Some time back, ‘Fallen Leaves’ had bagged the Jury prize at Cannes Film Festival and later, it was also named among the top five international movies by the National Board of Review. The film has made its presence felt in several international film festivals as well.
Moreover, ‘Fallen Leaves’ currently holds a highly impressive critics’ score of 98% on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes.
