This Acclaimed Drama On Netflix Is One Heartwrenching Tale

Sometimes all you need is a good cry to let it all out and feel relaxed and when it seems impossible to do so because of the brave front you have been keeping all this while, there are movies that shake you up and you cannot help but feel those emotions deeply.

We are talking about the acclaimed drama ‘Pieces of a Woman’ on Netflix directed by Kornél Mundruczó with a screenplay from Kata Wéber. Moreover, the film moved Martin Scorsese in a way that he decided to executive produce it.

‘Pieces of a Woman’ follows a young couple Martha (Vanessa Kirby) and Sean (Shia LaBeouf) who are expecting their first child, but when it the time comes to deliver, their midwife is unavailable and sends another, Eva (Molly Parker), in her place.

During the home birth, the unspeakable happens and the baby dies of cardiac arrest. In the traumatic fallout, the grief overwhelms the couple and extends to Martha’s mother, Elizabeth (Ellen Burstyn). Now the family must figure out how to move forward, with or without each other.

‘Pieces of a Woman’ received huge praises upon release, specially for the performances by lead cast. So much so that Vanessa Kirby was nominated for Academy Award, BAFTA, SAG, Critics Choice and Golden Globe for her role in the film.

Originally a play, ‘Pieces of a Woman’ was created by the film’s director, Kornél Mundruczó, and screenwriter, Kata Wéber, themselves a couple who experienced miscarriage.
