This Crime Drama On Netflix Has Drake As Its Fan

Yes you read that right! ‘Top Boy’, a British crime drama is one of Drake’s favourite, so much so that it was almost over after two seasons but it was his interest in the show that Netflix revived it in 2017 for three more seasons.

The kinetic and violent ‘Top Boy’ focuses on a pair of friends (played by Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson) who make their money dealing drugs in London. They live in the Summerhouse Estate, which has been devastated by crime and is ignored by the corrupt police force, and navigate their way to the top of the hierarchy — until it becomes painfully clear that only one of them can rule over this cruel world.

Between the series and its predecessor, ‘Top Boy Summerhouse’, the supporting cast includes Barry Keoghan, Letitia Wright, and Benedict Wong. Both shows cleverly drill home the point that sitting on a bloody throne has incredible consequences.

‘Top Boy’ has been critically acclaimed for its writing, acting, cinematography, themes, realism, and soundtrack, with favourable comparisons to other crime shows such as ‘The Wire’, ‘Snowfall’ and ‘Power’.

Having received various accolades, ‘Top Boy’ has sense of morality without any preaching at all. The show is shocking, gripping and violent in a way that it keeps you hooked. In fact the seasons after Netflix revival were met with greater acclaim for its performances, emotional depth, soundtrack, writing, and bigger scope and scale.

Created and written by Ronan Bennett, all five seasons of ‘Top Boy’ are currently streaming on Netflix. If you are looking for an intense, riveting crime drama this must be your pick!
