Euphoria fame Hunter Schafer (uses pronouns she/her) has joined the cast of Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming feature, AND. The actor confirmed the news in her recent interview with Elle.
The forthcoming Lanthimos project is led by Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, and Willem Dafoe. In her interview, Hunter spilled some beans about her character in the film:
‘It’s a little cameo, like two scenes. It’s cool though, and it’s great to be in there. We’d never met before but [Lanthimos] had seen Euphoria and was keeping my name around in case a part came up. So, when it did, I flew down to the set in New Orleans immediately.’
Hunter Schafer received worldwide recognition for her outstanding portrayal of Jules Vaughn in HBO’s series, Euphoria. The COVID-19 pandemic halted the shoot of Season 3 of the show. This scenario allowed the actor to join some films, including ‘Cuckoo’ and ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’. In the former project, she plays the role of Gretchen, who visits a resort with her family in Germany. Soon, she meets a mysterious woman and becomes a part of a chilling conspiracy. And the upcoming Hunger Games project serves as a prequel to the original entry (2012), showing the origin story of Coriolanus Snow.
Lanthimos has helmed critically acclaimed projects like The Lobster (2015), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), and The Favourite (2017). Apart from AND, ‘Poor Things’ is also one of his upcoming projects, which also stars Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe. The rest of the cast in ‘AND’ includes Hunter Schafer, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Jesse Plemons. Stay tuned for more updates.
