The weekend is here and, like always, we are back again to help you with the never-ending dilemma of what to watch on Indian OTT platforms this weekend from an ocean of films and series titles. Today’s recommendation should be a delightful watch, particularly for horror movie buffs. It’s a fresh take on the over exploited slasher horror film genre. We’re talking about Ti West’s horror flick ‘X’, which you can stream on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform in India.
‘X’ has been written and directed by horror specialist filmmaker Ti West. Set in the year 1979, the slasher horror movie revolves around a bunch of young filmmakers who are trying to make an adult film in a rural region of Texas. But the story takes a U-turn after they start getting killed one by one by unlikely killers. Since ‘X’ is an R-rated film in the US, viewers discretion is accordingly advised. The film has a runtime of around 1 hour & 45 minutes.
When ‘X’ was first released in theatres in March 2022, the film received generally positive feedback from critics and audiences. It was appreciated for its homage to the 1974 cult slasher film ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ and other popular slasher movies.
Currently, ‘X’ holds an impressive critics’ score of 94% and is ‘Certified Fresh’ on reviews aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. On another reviews’ aggregation portal Metacritic, ‘X’ boasts of a solid meta-score of 79/100, indicating generally favorable reviews.
A prequel to ‘X’ titled ‘Pearl’ (also directed by Ti West) was released in theatres in September this year, however, that film is still not streaming anywhere on any Indian OTT platform. Stay tuned to Binged for our regular and handpicked binge-watch recommendations.
