This GoT Star Joins Netflix’s Wednesday Addams Original Series!

Gwendoline Christie, a name that you definitely might be quite familiar with, if you are an ardent Game of Thrones fan. Gwendoline Christie is none other than “Brienne of Tarth” from the uber-famous series GoT, which took the world by storm a few years ago and remains as one of the biggest shows. She was the righteous knight in GoT and by far one of the best knights that stood by their master till the end. She already was a star, but the fame of Game of Thrones, propelled Gwendoline Christie to superstardom and now, she is coming back on screen with an amazing Netflix original series.

Fans might remember that Netflix announced an original based on the famous supernatural family “Addams Family”. The show has been titled “Wednesday” and will mainly focus on the daughter “Wednesday Addams” of the family. Now, Gwendoline Christie will be seen essaying the role of Larrisa Weems, who has been a longtime rival of Morticia Addams, the Addams Family matriarch. Gwendoline Christie will be a series regular in the 8 episode long “Wednesday”.

As for the story, as we already mentioned, it focuses more on the story of Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, and her life at Nevermore Academy, where she will hone her skills of being a psychic, all while trying to fight a monstrous murder spree, that is affecting her town. Above all her main aim is to find the secret, the tragedy that shook her parents’ lives 25 years ago. Gwendoline Christie will be seen as the principal of Nevermore Academy and she still holds a major grudge against her ex-classmate Morticia Addams, who will be played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Al Gough and Miles Milar are the showrunners and executive producers of Wednesday. Tim Burton directs and also executive produces the show along with the others. Other executive producers for “Wednesday” Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman for 1.21, Kevin Miserocchi of the Tee and Charles Addams Foundation, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania, and Gail Berman. Before “Wednesday”, Addams Family has been adapted into various versions of movies as well as animated series. One of the most recent ones is “The Addams Family” an animated film released back in 2019. The movie is awaiting the release of its sequel, which is scheduled for the 2021 release.

This isn’t the first Netflix show Gwendoline Christie is attached to. She is also essaying the role of Lucifer in the Netflix original and the comic book adaptation of “The Sandman”. Both of these shows are much awaited and both these shows showcase Gwendoline Christie in major roles. It will be interesting to see how she pulls off these brilliant new characters when the fans are still not over her “Brienne of Tarth” image. We for sure can’t for Gwendoline Christie to rock Netflix with her presence on both “Wednesday” and “The Sandman”
